As the name St. Cocker Kennel might indicate, we breed both Saint Bernards and Cocker Spaniels. Both dogs, Saint Bernards and Cocker Spaniels, are a great choice. St. Bernards have a very gentle demeanor and St Bernards are by nature very affectionate, but their size can be a problem at times. Saint Bernards tend to reach 100 lbs very fast and are not aware of their strength and size. You may get pushed around a bit. St. Bernards also tend to drool, mostly after getting a cool drink of water or after a good run, but there are few things as cuddly as a Saint Bernard puppy (ok, maybe a Cocker Spaniel puppy).
With Cocker Spaniels, on the other hand, your not quite sure what you are going to get for your money. The personality of a Cocker Spaniel ranges from mellow to hyper, and I am not so sure that environment has a lot to do with it. One thing is for sure. Cocker Spaniels have the heart of a Lion. It would not be the first time that I had to pull one of my Cocker Spaniels off of one of my St. Bernards.
Our Saint Bernards and Cocker Spaniels are not raised in a traditional kennel setting. Our Cockers and Saints pretty much run the house. We are first and foremost pet companions, and raise our Saint Bernard and Cocker Spaniel dogs and Saint Bernard and Cocker Spaniel puppies with love and care. All dogs need care, but because these 2 breeds tend to have a heavy coat of fur, need regular brushing. Take this into consideration before getting a puppy, one of our puppies, or a puppy from another source.
